As older teenagers, Ulysses and Ingram shared a close relationship. It was both of their first experiences with a commited and sexual partnership, and lasted several years before aging pushed them apart. It ended on more or less mutual terms and the two remained in partial contact after the split, and eventually became close friends. Harboring few bitter feelings, they have a deep understanding of one another and genuinely care for each other, despite the emotional distance they keep themselves at.
Because Ingram moved on faster than her, Ulysses developed some mild but deeply set feelings of inadequacy and inferiority that she is yet to resolve. She envies how Ingram can find new, healthier relationships, while she still struggles with emotions as much as she used to.
Naturally having a loud and commandeering personality makes Gabriel frustrate Ulysses to no end. Being assigned to the same team made her quickly despise him, and the two argue over important decisions and bicker over insignificant minutia. Despite everything Gabriel is exactly her type, and she struggles to deny her attraction to her body and personality. He is similarly attracted, but the pair remain too proud and too scared to admit any feelings, which only fuels tensions between them.
Stage 1
Over time, the two begin to get along a little better, fighting less and relying upon one another more. In a critical moment, Ulysses is exposed to Gabriel's thoughts as the girl makes contact with her blood, forcing them to reckon with their desires. An intermittent physical relationship begins. They can't help themselves and relent to their physical needs when they're alone, but still bottle up their true feelings.
Eventually, Ingram finds out about the two, and they realise it was stupid to hide in the first place. After some serious reflection Ulysses and Gabriel begin dating.
Stage 2
A while after first meeting, Gabriel is unrelentingly loyal to Ulysses, and she now goes everywhere with her partner. She configures and maintains much of the technology that Gabriel uses.

Around this time I was redesigning all my OCs; part of this was renaming Camille to Ulysses. During this time he was male, and I thinned him out. The round glasses were a bit of a breakthrough, and I'm surprised I'd never added them until now.
Art from around this period emphasised his more violent and lonely natures. He fairly directly reflected thoughts on myself; my body was thin and androgynous like his, and I had become increasingly closed off and awkward. The hair style, round glasses, and fashion sense closely resembled myself at the time.
As I grew out away from my ex, I wanted Camille to look less like her. This gave me a great excuse to rework parts of her appearance, leading to greyish blonde hair. Around this time I started identifying myself as a sheepgirl, which lead to giving all my characters horns.
Parts of this design phase harken back to earlier drawings, particularly the return of her azure turtleneck jumper, but now with a skirt for the first time. I began to emphasise her technological abilities too, often giving her bits of power armour.
Camille's character grew increasingly pitiful, weaker and less confident. Probably taking after myself, as I grew increasingly unwell of body and mind. Physically she began to resemble my at the time partner, who shared a similar build and scruffy red hair.
Art of her at the time always gave her an unhappy expression. Even drawings of her with Ruby depicted her as scared or worried.
For whatever reason, Camille evolved into a very grumpy character. This was right as I changed her hair to be a lot shorter, and I suspect the influence of Kim Pine began to arise about here
During this phase of the design, she became strongly associated with a medium azure, and I paired her off with Ruby, her social opposite.
The original design for Camille Scarlet was a firey girl with long red hair and little regard for others. She had a pair of mechanical arms resembling flayed muscle and bone, and wielded a machete.
Her design quickly strayed far from this, both in personality and appearance.
